She Shoots, She Scores (2018 - 2020)
A collection of photographs of me taken by women highlighting the female gaze. The series started after a conversation I had with a friend of mine. She commented on a photo my partner at the time took of me and noted “you can really tell she loves you based on this photo.” From there we discussed the male vs the female gaze. As a man who has had his photo taken many times by men but not by women it made me wonder how I’d be seen through the lens of a woman. At this time I was also gaining traction for my Muslim-based comedy page, and through that, I was able to contact several photographers I admired. They were all based in different places, and I tailored the photoshoots to what I thought their strengths were. and below are the results.
